Woman sues Spartan for mishap that left her paralyzed

A New Jersey mother of four is suing Spartan Race, as well as Reebok and NBC, after a mishap at a 2015 Spartan event at CitiField left her paralyzed from the neck down.

According to an article on NYPost.com, Amparo Colon, 40, says that during the 2015 event she was about to bypass the monkey bars and do a 30-burpee penalty.

But, she claims in the suit that a race volunteer “encouraged and demanded” she cross the bars by riding his shoulders. When the volunteer lost his balance and fell, Amparo landed on her neck and suffered a fracture to her spine that has left her in need of a motorized wheelchair.
