If you call yourself an obstacle racer, inclement winter weather isn’t an excuse stay inside. Winter is just another obstacle to overcome. Embrace it and take on Old Man Winter with these frigidly awesome winter obstacle races.

January 23, 2016
Ice Man Run
Sauk Rapids, Minnesota
This 5K obstacle race at Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, says participants will run, walk, climb and crawl through what it bills as the one and only truly challenging winter obstacle race course in the country. Racers encounter 15 challenging man-made obstacles, plus other obstacles courtesy of Mother Nature.

Abominable Snow Course
Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Canada
A 5.5-kilometer race in Quebec featuring more than 22 obstacles with names like “Winter Tire Change,” “Pull the Sled” and “Face the Yeti.” A 3-kilometer family run and 1.2-kilometer children’s run are also available.

Yeti 2-Mile Winter OCR
Bonner Springs, Kansas
The organizers of this winter race pack more than 20 obstacles into its 2-mile course. Using a massive cold storage freezer, they’re able to create tons of ice for the event, including a huge ice wall.

Crystal Lake, Illinois
A hilly, 3.5-mile course of icy, snowy trails with more than 20 obstacles.

Abominable Adventure Run
Como, Colorado
Located at an elevation at over 10,000 feet, participants will have to take on the altitude as well as winter conditions in this race. The course is roughly three to five miles of steep inclines, deep snow, thick forests, sledding sections and other challenging winter themed obstacles. Last year obstacles included climbing over walls, hauling heavy logs, crawling through a 60 foot snow tunnel and sledding down hills.

Blizzard Blast
Dracut, Massachusetts
This popular four- to six-mile winter obstacle course has featured such obstacles as climbing over walls, under walls, a Christmas tree carry, mound climbs, a tree slalom, and more.

Held on one of the most challenging obstacle courses around no matter the season, this race challenges participants to complete as many laps as they can on a more than 10K course with more than 65 obstacles.

Salem, Oregon
A 4- to 5-mile obstacle course with more than 25 obstacles such as hauling sandbags, climbing over walls, tackling the monkey bars, dragging tires and more.

BoldrDash Winter Dash
Exeter, Rhode Island
This 5K course will feature 15 to 20 challenging obstacles.
